Anyone interested in becoming a certified fireman or a driver should contact the Valley Springs Fire Department and fill out an application. Certain requirements must be met and final approval or rejection of your application is voted on by the Board of Directors. Some of the requirements are: You must live in the Valley Springs Fire District; You must complete your two certification classes which are 16 hours each and you must attend a wild land fire class presented by the Arkansas Forestry; You must agree to a criminal background check; You must be willing to attend department training meetings for 2 hours each month. We do have a minimum age requirement which is 18 for firemen and 21 for firemen who are drivers.
Some of our patrons have noticed that our dues collection for 2010 are being handled by the Boone County Collectors office for next year and each year thereafter. There have been some problems that have been worked out and will be better next year. As the insert read, you only pay for one parcel in each fire district in which you have property. Next year, only one fee will appear on you tax statement. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this transition to the way we receive our dues collections.
